Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Journal of Innovation in Education and Entrepreneurship (JIEE)

1. Scope and Suitability of Submissions

The Journal of Innovation in Education and Entrepreneurship (JIEE) publishes original, high-quality scholarly works that examine the interrelationship between education, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Submissions must demonstrate clear relevance to one or more of the journal’s thematic areas and contribute meaningfully to existing academic or professional discourse.

Manuscripts may be theoretical, empirical, methodological, or practice-based, provided they exhibit scholarly rigour, coherence, and relevance. Interdisciplinary studies and comparative research across regions, sectors, or systems are particularly encouraged.

2. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

JIEE considers the following categories of submissions:

  • Original Research Articles
    Empirical studies employing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods.

  • Theoretical and Conceptual Papers
    Development or critique of frameworks, models, or theories relevant to education or entrepreneurship.

  • Review Articles
    Systematic, scoping, or critical reviews of literature that synthesise existing knowledge.

  • Case Studies
    Evidence-based analyses of educational innovations, entrepreneurial ventures, or institutional practices.

  • Policy and Practice Papers
    Analyses addressing educational reform, enterprise development, or innovation policy.

  • Short Communications
    Concise reports on emerging research findings or innovative practices.

3. Originality and Prior Publication

Manuscripts submitted to JIEE must be original and not under consideration by another journal or publisher. Submissions that substantially overlap with previously published work, including the authors’ own publications, will not be accepted.

All manuscripts are subjected to plagiarism detection software. Any form of academic misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, or misrepresentation, will result in rejection.

4. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

4.1 Language and Style

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear, formal UK English.

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring grammatical accuracy and clarity prior to submission.

  • Inclusive and non-discriminatory language must be used throughout.

4.2 Word Count

  • Research articles: 6,000–8,000 words (including references)

  • Review articles: 7,000–9,000 words

  • Case studies and policy papers: 4,000–6,000 words

  • Short communications: 2,000–3,000 words

5. Manuscript Structure

Submissions should generally follow the structure below:

  1. Title Page

    • Title of the manuscript

    • Author names and affiliations

    • Corresponding author contact details

  2. Abstract (150–250 words)
    A concise summary outlining the purpose, methodology, findings, and implications.

  3. Keywords (4–6 terms)

  4. Introduction
    Context, problem statement, objectives, and contribution.

  5. Literature Review / Theoretical Framework

  6. Methodology (where applicable)

  7. Results / Findings

  8. Discussion

  9. Conclusion and Implications

  10. References

  11. Appendices (if required)

6. Referencing Style

JIEE adopts the APA referencing style (7th edition). Authors must ensure accuracy and consistency in citations and references. In-text citations and reference lists must strictly conform to APA guidelines.

7. Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

  • Tables and figures must be clearly labelled and referenced in the text.

  • Each table or figure should include a descriptive title and source, where applicable.

  • Images must be of high resolution and submitted in editable formats.

8. Ethical Considerations

Authors must comply with ethical standards relevant to their research:

  • Studies involving human participants must include evidence of ethical approval.

  • Informed consent must be obtained where applicable.

  • Conflicts of interest must be disclosed.

  • Funding sources must be clearly stated.

JIEE adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) principles and reserves the right to investigate any ethical concerns.

9. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise. Editorial decisions are based on originality, methodological quality, clarity, and contribution to the field.

Possible decisions include:

  • Accept

  • Minor revisions

  • Major revisions

  • Reject

10. Open Access and Copyright

JIEE operates a hybrid access model, allowing authors to choose between open access or subscription-based publication. Copyright arrangements will be clearly communicated upon acceptance.

11. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Authors will receive confirmation upon submission and updates throughout the review process.

12. Post-Acceptance and Publication

Upon acceptance, authors may be required to make final revisions. Proofs will be provided for review prior to publication. Authors are encouraged to promote their published work through academic and professional networks.
